Your guide on what Trump’s second term for Washington, Business and the World means
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he will not travel to Turkey to take part in talks between Moscow and Kiev on Thursday, despite the reasons of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to attend.
White House officials said that United States President Donald Trump will not go to Turkey either for conversations after Putin announced the list of Russian attendees, all of whom are relatively low officials.
Putin proposed for the first time holding direct conversations between Russia and Ukraine -“No preconditions”-past, in response to a demand from the western ukraine allies for a high fire of 30 days the war. He said the negotiations will be held on Thursday in Turkey.
Putin said that the purpose of the conversations would be to “eliminate the causes of the roots of the conflict and move towards the creation of long -term and lasting peace in a historical perspective.”
Zelenskyy said he was ready to attend, but only if Putin also presented himself, because “everything in Russia depends” on the Russian leader.
“So I said (on Thursday) I will go to Turkey and I am ready to meet Putin and the end of the war was through direct conversations with him,” Zelenskyy told Kiev journalists.
Trump had greeted Putin’s initiative, describing -as a “potentially large day for Russia and Ukraine”. The president, who is currently on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, had also said he could divert to Turkey to attend talks.
