In the midst of a series of return terms to the technology giants office, including Amazon and iPhone Challenger NothingSpotify does not need to treat its staff as “children” and end their popular work policy from home.

Spotify went through a review by 2023, to say goodbye 17% of his staff in December in a play, CEO Daniel Ek acknowledged that he had a greater Impact on operations of what the company had planned.

The decision also helped Double Spotify market value by 2024, as the group scored record quarterly revenue as it reduced costs. However, inside Spotify, the layoffs have shaken the morale.

For those who survived the spoon, there is no other plan to make a moral surface to break with the popular policy of “work anywhere” of Spotify.

“You can’t spend a lot of time hiring big ones and then treating them as children,” Katarina Berg, Deputy Human Resource of Spotify said to raconteurexplaining the policy of flexible work location of the group.

“Are we a business that has been digital since birth, why should we not give our people flexibility and freedom?

“Work is not a place to come, it’s something you do.”

In February 2021, Spotify joined several technology groups to allow its employees “Work from anywhere. “This allowed employees to choose where and their operation, as long as the company had an office in this jurisdiction.

Unlike other companies that have re -attacked employees in a hybrid manner, such as GoalOr he came out and asked for a complete return to the office, like Amazon, Spotify has not decided to give up this policy.

An important reason is probably the effect it has Had in withholding. Spotify said that the care rates were 15% lower in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019. The company also said that it had improved the diversity of its talent.

Although Spotify has no intention of scraping his remote work policy at any time, Berg acknowledged that it was not an ideal configuration.

“It’s harder and we all struggle to collaborate in a virtual environment,” Berg said. “But it means we will start to force people to enter the office as soon as there is a tendency? No.”

The company continues to use innovative ways to encourage its music lover staff to enter the office, including “locating lounge” with pop stars such as Olivia Dean and Rag ‘n’ bone man. It is also recommended that staff enter the office during the “Core Week” of Spotify to reconnect and discuss the strategy.

The largest round of Spotify’s layoffs in December 2023, when it was fired from 1,500 employees, came when the CEO said that the company was doing too “work around work.”

The impact of these layoffs on the operations was greater than what EK was expected, and Berg told Racontreur The remaining staff were in a “shock” state.

“Spotify had been to Hypergrowth, and that was the only one people knew,” he said. “Many Spotify people had never seen a recession and was very absorbed and digest.”
