Spain was affected by a huge power cut on Monday, which affected most of the country, stopping the trains, disturbing the flights and making the traffic lights dark. There was no immediate explanation for interruption.

The Spanish Electricity Transmission Operator said he had activated the plans to restore the supply in cooperation with companies in the sector. In a message to X he said he was still looking at the causes of the incident.

He later said that he had begun recovering tension in the north and south of the peninsula, which he said was key to gradually recovering the energy supply.

The data from the transmission operator showed that more than 10GW of demand were reduced when it reached the turn, suggesting that it was one of the largest in recent European history.

The interruption affected millions of people throughout Spain in cities like Madrid and Barcelona, ​​while Portuguese residents also reported that their power had been reduced.
