Mexico has sued the technology giant Google about his labeling of theGulf of MexicoLike the Gulf of America, a change made by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, by executive order,Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaumsaid on Friday.
Sheinbaum did not provide demand details during his daily press session, but said that Google had been sued.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico had previously sent letters to Google asking -not to label Mexican territorial water as Gulf of America.
Google did not immediately respond to a comment request.
The water body has shared borders between the United States and Mexico. Trump’s order has only authority within the United States Mexico, as well as other international countries and bodies, they must not recognize the name change.
Mexico argues that the Gulf of America should only be applied to the Gulf on the United States Continental Platform.
In February,Sheinbaum shared a letterFrom Cris Turner, the Google Vice President of Public Affairs and Policies, stating that Google will not changethe policy he exposedAfter Trump declared the water body of the Gulf of America.
As it is, golf appears on Google Maps as Gulf of America in the United States, as a Gulf of Mexico in Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America) elsewhere. Turner, in his letter, said that the company used the Gulf of America to follow “long -term and constant length map policies in all regions”.
The Gulf of Mexico has brought this name for more than 400 years. Associated Press refers to him with his original name while recognizing the new name Trump has chosen. The White House moved in February toBlock the APFrom being among the small group of journalists to cover Trump in the Oval Office or Bord of the Air Force, with the sporadic capacity to cover it at Eastern Room events.
The AP sued three Trump administration officials for access to presidential events, citing freedom of expression to ask a federal judge to leave the blockade of its journalists.
A federal judge ordered the White House last month to restore the full access of the AP to cover the presidential events, saying for the first amendment that the Government cannot punish the news organization for the content of its speech. The judge’s decision granted emergency relief as the demand continues.
