Lloyd’s of London names the new CEO

Reinsurance Marketplace Lloyd’s has named Patrick Tiernan as the new CEO, from June 1, 2025.

The decision, made by the Council of Lloyd’s, depends on the green light of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PR) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Tiernan is currently the head of the Lloyd’s markets, a position he has occupied since joining the market in May 2021.

This role includes responsibilities that include subscriptions, claims, market supervision and Lloyd’s global network management, among others.

Prior to his time at Lloyd’s, Tiernan was the General Director of Lines Commercial and Global Corporate & Specialty in Aviva, and the director of Aviva Insurance.

His career also includes a stage as an operational director of Startone Insurance and as CEO of Zurich’s managed companies.

Lloyd President Sir Charles Roxburgh said: “The deep understanding of Patrick’s market, along with his commercial experience and industry industry, will ensure that Lloyd continues to focus on consistent and disciplined performance.”

Tiernan stated: “My main focus will support the commercial success of our participants in the market, maintaining an iron dam in the subscription discipline and the safeguarding of the corporation’s financial force.

“We will work on Pace to promote innovation, offer an open and efficient model that accentuates the unique advantages of the Lloyd network and promotes an inclusive culture that attracts the best talent in the world.”

The CEO, John Neal, concluded his term in Lloyd’s on May 31, 2025.

Neal will join AONWhere he will take on the roles of the World President of Climate Solutions and the Overall CEO of the Reassurance Division.
