Kongsberg Maritime has received a Capital Group contract for the delivery of the K-SIM machines room and the loading handling simulators for a new training facility located on the island of Chios, Greece.

This initiative aims to improve crew training standards, focusing on training, certification and clock (STCW) standards and familiarization with on -board automation systems.

Simulators will be completed by the end of June 2025.

Simulators will incorporate K-CAP automation systems, which are currently used in Tank trucks and GNL gas carriers.

This configuration is designed to offer crew members practical experience with the automation systems they will find while operating the fleet.

Capital Ship Management (Chios Branch) Captain Ioannis Tsirigos said: “Simulation formation is a critical component of our crew development strategy.

“The ability to train in family automation systems, such as K-Cap 600 and K-Cap 700, guarantees that our staff has practical experience, improving safety, efficiency and operational efficiency.”

The decision to award the contract to Kongsberg Maritime is derived from the use of Group capital from the K-Cap 600 and K-Cap automation systems. These systems are used throughout the company’s operations.

The CEO of the Kongsberg Maritime Simulation is Fullesal Tjonn, “Our mission is to support the transition from the maritime industry to smarter, safe and more efficient operations.

“The fact that we can offer both the technology of proven automation systems in addition to the immersive simulation of the systems, puts us in a unique situation in the support of the owners who maximize efficiency and operational safety.”

In February of this year, Kongsberg Maritime got a contract To provide a package of integrated equipment for Bibby Marine’s new ECSOV.

The ECSOV, as the first completely electric offshore ship in the world, will be delivered in 2027.
