KKR co -founder says to “keep calm and continue” in the uncertainty of the market

(Reuters) KKR co -founder George Roberts sought to relieve investors’ anxiety, as uncertainty about the commercial policies of the United States President Donald Trump has caused the world market markets to be made.

“To cite Queen Elizabeth, keep calm and continue,” said the private capital veteran at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, in reference to the British monarch who died in 2022.

“What we have now is the interruption in international trade and the rates, with no real result of what will be … I think there will be commercial offers made, they must be,” added Roberts, who co -founded KKR with his cousin Henry Kravis in 1976.

Trump imposed on April 2 a minimum rate of 10% on all imported goods in the United States, before pausing some, with higher percentages to dozens of key members of Europe in Japan, including -a heavy tax in China that has since increased to 145%.

The following market crisis has made it difficult to evaluate assets and reach offers that allow private capital companies to sell or IPO their portfolio companies.

“You can see the administration that resorts to some of the newest ideas that have appeared. Whether our country will be better or not, voters will have the opportunity to vote,” said Roberts.

Roberts pointed out the infrastructure as a good sector to invest due to high interest rates and the availability of assets.

KKR expanded from purchases to private loans, infrastructure and property, and now has assets worth more than $ 600 million under management.

Roberts and Kravis went to their executive roles of the firm in 2021 and are now being co-executive presidents.
