Hiscox specialist insurer has appointed Phil Withey as Technology Manager (CTO) for the London Market, from June this year.

Withey will be commissioned to define the technological strategy for the London market, overseeing the operation and transformation of negotiation systems, as well as promoting investments in data, digitization and artificial intelligence.

Withey will inform both Hiscox Cio Chris Loake group and Hiscox London Managing Director Kate Markham, and will be headquartered at the London insurer’s office.

Commenting on the appointment, Markham said: “Phil’s experience and experience will be key to offering our ambitions, supporting our colleagues through the business, as we seek to provide runners and clients with Hiscox trade.”

Withey joins Hiscox after a decade at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he held multiple senior technological functions, including the FTSE Russell architecture chief, shared technology and data and analytics.

Lastly, he directed the architectural function for LSEG and Microsoft collaboration and was responsible for orchestrating and executing a transformation program in collaboration with Microsoft.

Prior to his term in LSEG, Withey accumulated experience at Barclays Capital and Threadneedle Investments, which has provided him with a wide perspective on technology within the financial services sector.

Withey stated: “ I am happy to be part of Hiscox in such an exciting time and to play my role in playing its ambitious plans. The Hiscox London market has led the path with innovations such as its generative lead subscription model, so I really want to based on the strong foundations already in its place as we continue to explore how technology can transform our products.

March 2025, HISCOX migrated to a new native cloud architecture provided by Sapiens, who uses Kbernetes, to improve operating productivity and the provision of services.
