The Italian energy giant Eni has begun gas production from the Field Field Field, located in the Kutei basin, in Indonesia on the high seas.
ENI has an operational interest of 85% in the field, located inside the East Sepinggan block at a water depth of 1,600 m, approximately 10 km east of the existing Felakes field.
The field is expected to contribute to 100 million standard cubic feet a day (MSCF/D) of gas, equivalent to approximately 18,000 barrels of equivalent daily, to the ENI production figures.
Using an underwater system, the field is connected to the Jangkrik Floating Footing Unit (FPU) operated by ENI and located about 50 km away.
After the initial FPU processing, the gas will be transported through pipes to meet the national demand and supply the Bontang settlement plant.
The plant plays a double role, taking into account the needs of the internal market and exporting liquefied natural gas (GNL).
Melakes East’s start-up is aligned with Indonesia’s widest strategy in Indonesia, with the aim of capitalizing on substantial gas reserves in Kutei basin.
ENI’s collaboration with SKK Migas, the uprising and supervisor of Indonesia on the rise, has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.
The start of production at Melakes East complements ongoing projects such as the Maha Field Development and recently approved the development plans for the fields of central northern and Gendalo-Gendang.
These initiatives emphasize ENI’s commitment to improve local content, optimizing the capacity of the Bontang LNG plant and the guarantee of additional gas volumes for the national market.
In addition, ENI is dedicated to debates with Petronas to form a joint participation company (JV) that oversees the assets upstream to Indonesia and Malaysia.
The JV Amalgam would approximately three billion barrels equivalent to oil (BBOE) of reservations and 10 BBOE additional potential exploration upside down.
Last month, Eni made an oil discovery in the Capricornus 1-X well in the orange basin Namibia out of the sea.
“Eni begins production in Melakes East Field in Indonesia” was created and originally published Offshore Technologya brand of Globaldata property.
