The Norwegian energy giant Equinor said on Wednesday that the United States decision to stop his wind project outside New York was illegal and warned that he was still weighed his legal options.
In mid -April, the United States Government ordered the construction of equinor from the huge wind farm, again treating a president of the industry, Donald Trump.
Equinor valued at $ 2.5 billion, the Empire Wind 1 project includes 54 turbines designed to deliver 810 energy megavatios to Brooklyn, feeding 500,000 homes.
“We have invested in Empire Wind after obtaining all the necessary approvals, and the order to stop the work is now not preceding and, in our opinion, illegal,” said Equinor’s CEO, Anders Omedal, on a declaration of quarterly results Wednesday.
“We seek to relate to the United States administration directly to clarify the matter and we are considering our legal options,” he said.
The United States government has argued that the administration of former President Joe Biden “precipitated for” approval of the project “without sufficient analysis”.
Omedal declared the statement as Equinor reported that his net profit reached 2.63 billion kroner ($ 254 million) in the first quarter, dropping two percent from the same period a year ago.
Its adjusted operating income increased by 15 percent to 8.65 billion Kroner, exceeding the consensus of 8.51 billion Kroner’s analysts.
“I am happy to see good operational performance and solid production by capturing higher gas prices,” Omedal said in a statement.
“With current market uncertainties, Equinor’s main purpose is safe, stable and profitable operations and resilience through strong balance,” he said.
