Israel’s chief of domestic intelligence announced that he was demolished on June 15, after weeks of public flaming with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who pushed the country to a constitutional crisis.

Shin Bet’s head, Ronen Bar, had previously said that he would resign due to his role in the failures that surrounded the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 in southern Israel.

“Like the person at the helm of the organization (October 7), I took responsibility,” Bar said in a speech commemorating Shin Bet’s fallen operators on Monday night.

“Now, in an evening that symbolizes the memory, heroism and sacrifice, I have chosen to announce that I will continue and decided to leave as director.”

NetanyahuThe government government sacked last month in a controversial movement that was affected by the leaders of the opposition and groups of civil society as politically motivated.

The Supreme Court later issued a temporary order by stopping the removal of the bar until it could not see if Netanyahu could legally dismiss the national spy in the midst of the ongoing research research and others to possible pressure work by the Prime Minister’s assistants on behalf of Qatar.

In an affidavit filed in court this month, Bar claimed that Netanyahu had demanded personal flexibility in the event of a future constitutional crisis with the country’s judiciary.

Bar also claimed that he had been asked to use the great powers of his agency to oversee antique protesters and to stop the Netanyahu’s continuous corruption judgment for security reasons.

In an affidavit filed on Sunday court, Netanyahu denied the bar’s allegations, saying that they were full of “lies and contradictions” and insisted that he had the authority to plunder Shin Bet’s head. The Netanyahu governing coalition threatened to ignore the Supreme Court, with several tall ministers who pressed all work with a bar.

The bar is the final Israeli security chief final of the October 7 attack. The Prime Minister, Yoav Gallant, was sacked by Netanyahu last November, while the chief of Israel’s Defense Forces Herzi Halevi resigned from the Prime Minister’s pressure last month. Several other superior military have also resigned or declared their intention to do it.

Netanyahu and his allies in the Government and the media have tried to be the unique to blame for the October 7 attack on the bar and the army generals. The Prime Minister, in power for most of the last 16 years, has constantly refused to accept any responsibility for the worst loss of life in Israeli history and has taught the creation of a National Research Commission to fully investigate the attack.

The bar in his speech made a flight to Netanyahu, saying: “Given the magnitude of the event, all of us who chose public service and defend the security of the state as a mission of our lives … They should include their heads with humility … and act accordingly.”

It is unclear what the next steps of the Supreme Court will be, as he had previously promoted both Netanyahu and Bar to find a date of commitment to departure of the spy chief. However, Bar said on Monday that he expected his case to put the “necessary foundations” for the court to broadcast a decision that would protect both Shin Bet’s independence and the country’s democratic system.

“It is necessary to clarify about the institutional protections that will allow any director (Future of Shin Bet) to do their job independently and free from pressure,” said Bar. “This will draw a clear line to distinguish confidence and loyalty.”
