Listeria symptoms usually begin in two weeks after eating contaminated foods. Mild cases may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, vomiting and diarrhea, while the most severe symptoms may include headache, rigid neck, confusion, loss of balance and seizures.

Federal officials said they started investigating last year’s recent outbreak, but did not have enough evidence to identify a source of infections. They said that the research was reopened in April when FDA researchers found Listeria in samples collected from fresh and prepared foods that coincided with the tension of the outbreak.

Fresh & Ready Foods said in a statement that immediate corrective actions were taken, including eliminating equipment to solve the problem.

The FDA found that six of the ten people who became ill had been hospitalized before getting sick with Listeria. The FDA found that articles made by fresh and prepared foods had been served in at least three of the care facilities where patients had been previously treated.

Disease control and prevention centers said that samples of evil patients were collected from December 2023 to September 2024.

Fresh & Ready voluntarily recalled several products, which can be identified by “use” dates from April 22 to May 19, under the Fower & Ready Foods brands, City Point Market Fresh Food to Go and Fresh Away Away.
