Donald Trump says 80% of the rate in China “looks correct” ahead of commercial conversations

Donald Trump has said that 80 percent of Chinese import rates “seems correct”, as the United States President is in a position before the Washington and Beijing talks this weekend.

Trump published on Friday on his social platform: “80% of the rate in China seems correct! Until Scott B”: a reference to a meeting to start on Saturday in Geneva between North -American representatives led by the Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent and Chinese officials.

Trump also published: “China should open its market in the USA, it would be so good for them !!! The closed markets no longer work !!!”

The above reports had indicated that the Trump administration aimed to reduce rates below 60 percent. Last month, Trump announced a 145 percent punitive rate in many Chinese goods exports, freezing most of the trade between countries.

The signs that the United States were ready to go back up of its existing rates had previously been markets, but Trump’s reference to 80 percent caused Future S&P 500 to earn Friday.
