The prices of the Houses in the United Kingdom were erected in April, despite the end of the temporary relief of the Tax on stamp rights on real estate transactions, according to the data of the Halifax mortgage lender, it was published hours before the decision of the Bank of England interest rate.

Prices increased by 0.3 percent between March and April after falling 0.5 percent the previous month, Halifax said. Annually, the increase was 3.2 percent, up to 2.9 percent in March, leaving the average price to £ 297,781.

Analysts hoped that prices would drop 0.1 percent and increase to a slower annual rate of 2.6 percent.

Halifax figures contrast with last week’s data from the rival provider throughout the country, which showed that prices fell 0.6 percent between March and April, the largest monthly fall since August 2023.

The lenders base their data on the mortgages they approve. Halifax has a larger sample than nationally and a focus in the northern regions that can generate short -term differences.
