Apple will appeal the scornful sentence in the case of epic games on App Store

(Reuters) – Apple filed an appeal on Monday to challenge the ruling of a North -American judge who ordered the technology company to immediately open his lucrative Store Store to more competition.

Apple, in a court warning, said he would ask the 9th United States Circuit Appeal based in San Francisco to review the ruling of April 30, which the company found in contempt of an earlier order in an antitrust demand of 2020 filed by Epic Games.

U.Svonne Gonzalez Rogers Judge, in his decision, that Apple voluntarily did not voluntarily fulfill a 2021 order designed to allow developers to more easily direct consumers to non-potentially cheaper payment options.

Gonzalez Rogers also referred to Apple and one of his executives in federal prosecutors for possible criminal disdain investigation. She refused to suspend, accusing Apple of delaying and deceiving with the intention of the court.

“Apple intended to maintain a flow of income worth billions in challenging this court’s order,” said Gonzalez Rogers.

Apple had denied violating the terms of the court’s order.

Apple and Epic Games did not immediately respond to comments applications.

The Apple Appeal Notice included his planned legal arguments.

The demand of EPIC Games, the online video game maker Fortnite, aimed to let go of Apple’s grip on the transactions in applications that use their iOS operating system and how the applications are distributed to consumers.

Gonzalez Rogers ordered Apple to end various practices that he was designed to prevent their previous order, including a new 27% share that imposed on application developers when Apple customers complete an application purchase outside the App Store.

The judge also prevented Apple from using the so -called “frightening screens” to deter consumers from using third -party payment options.
