Google says Chrome will suffer if you are forced to sell the most popular web browser in the world

Tabriz said that Google Chrome is the result of “17 years of collaboration” between Chrome, Google and companies that send technical contributions to the company’s open source chromium project, which is also used for various other Google projects such as the Android operating system. “Google invests hundreds of millions of dollars” in chromium, said Tabriz, but said that other companies “do not contribute significantly.”

During several hours of Friday, Tabriz made it clear that Google was forced to sell Chrome, which is what the Justice Department has requested to do (in addition to sharing some of the data collected in power search results), finally hurting Chrome.

“I don’t think it can be recreated,” Tabriz said about Chrome’s success on Google.

Tabriz also mentioned that the Chrome team is currently working to bake artificial intelligence in the browser to make it more “agent”: that is, Google wants Chrome to be able to automate tasks on behalf of users, from filling out forms to purchasing research.
